THE WORK

Queen Louis, is a work by Paolo Pilotti, which represents a monarch sitting on her throne. Pilotti reproduces a portrait of Maria Luisa di Borbone by the painter Anton Raphael Mengs. In this canvas the young Roman artist portrays an imaginary queen of the famous Louis Vuitton brand. The monarch is represented with a crown combined with earrings, a shocking pink Victorian hairstyle and a dress, also from the Victorian era, in aquamarine colour. The dress is decorated with the "LV" monogram, an emblematic logo, known throughout the planet. The queen is seated on her seat. Andy Warhol's Marilyn is printed on the back of the throne. A mural made of colored Luis Vuitton logos stands out against the black background, from which the color of the spray can drips. In this creation there are therefore various references to Pop Art and Street Art. The queen, in Paolo Pilotti's work, is no longer a monarchical head of state, but she becomes the sovereign representative of a famous luxury brand.

This artwork was selected thanks to the partnership between Danilo Cascella Premium Store and Daniele Comelli Art .
